What Is a Honey Pod? A Guide for Hospitality and Gifting Buyers

A honey pod is a sealed, single-serve cup of pure honey with a peel-back lid. It is not a coffee capsule and it needs no machine: peel the lid, then pour, dip or spoon with the cutlery already on the table. Ours is hexagonal, shaped like a honeycomb cell, and holds a 16 gram serve.

Single-serve honey in India has mostly meant two things: the sachet, which is functional and forgettable, and more recently the honey spoon, which builds the spoon into the pack. The pod is the third shape, and it answers a different moment. The split is simple: the spoon is for liquids, the pod is for solids. Where the spoon stirs honey into tea, coffee or warm water, the pod drizzles it over toast, pancakes, curd or a cheese plate, opened like a portion of preserves but sealed like a modern single serve.

How it works

Honey spoon or honey pod?

They are the same honey in two serve sizes, and most programmes will eventually want both. The honest split looks like this:

Honey Spoon (8g) Honey Pod (16g)
Built for Liquids: stirring into tea, coffee, warm water Solids: drizzling over toast, pancakes, curd, cheese
How it opens Peel the film; the spoon is the pack Peel the lid; pour or dip
Cutlery needed None Whatever is already on the table
At its best Beverage service, tea trays, banquets, conference sets Breakfast trays, in-room dining, minibars, gift boxes
Branding Printed sleeve and handle Printed lid and windowed box

Where the pod earns its place

What to ask a supplier

  1. Is the honey lab-tested, and which certifications does the manufacturer hold? Ask for recent reports, not logos.
  2. Is the cup food-grade and the lid seal transit-tested? A leaking pod is worse than no pod.
  3. What are the MOQs, and can lids and boxes carry our branding?
  4. What are the shelf life and storage requirements, batch by batch?

A note on where we stand: Miss Miel is launching the spoon and the pod together as one range, so buyers can weigh both serve sizes against their programmes from day one. Samples and pricing for both formats are in preparation, and the enquiry list below is the fastest way to see them first.
